Mediaport and AAFES Partner to Bring Digital Entertainment to
Military Personnel Throughout The World
2 June 2009

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Mediaport Entertainment, Inc. announced today that it has signed a new multi-year contract for digital media services with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), a multi-channel retailer with revenues of more than $9.7 billion annually. AAFES’ retail stores, catalog, and online retail services feature more than 18 million items that are sold tax free to U.S. active duty, Reserve and National Guard personnel, military retirees, and their families.

AAFES selected Mediaport after completing a comprehensive review process among major digital media service providers throughout the United States. The contract will provide AAFES customers with the ability to buy and load music, books, movies and other digital entertainment onto iPods, MP3s and Mobile phones as well as burn CDs or DVDs, and within the next quarter deliver content wirelessly to mobile phones.

"Our business serves military personnel around the world as well as their families who are located both home and abroad. This need made it essential that we seek out and secure the services of a reliable digital media service provider. Mediaport’s product ensures that our stores have the broadest and most up-to-date selection of entertainment media for our military families. With the Entertainment Center, we are able to offer an unlimited amount of entertainment media and service to troops, wherever they are called to serve," said Robert J. Lopez, Divisional Merchandise Manager, AAFES.

AAFES operates more than 3,000 facilities worldwide, including retail stores and fast food chains like Taco Bell, Burger King, Popeyes and Cinnabon. They also operate convenience stores and on-base movie theatres and are considered by military personnel to be a close tie to the benefits of being at home. In addition, online shopping accounts for a growing amount of the products being sold annually.

According to Jon Butler, President of Mediaport, "We worked hard to position ourselves as the provider of choice for AAFES, not only because of the benefit to our business, but because we strongly believe in their mission and wanted very much to be a part of it. AAFES has the concerns and challenges of a large, global retail enterprise. Mediaport's background and experience with digital content distribution and fulfillment will be key to assisting AAFES in accomplishing their business objectives."

Mediaport Entertainment – Saving the Planet One Song at a Time™
Mediaport is helping save the environment by switching to CD holders made from recycled paper instead of plastic jewel cases.
15 December 2008

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Recycling not only spares the environment but makes products and packaging last longer than they normally would. Mediaport Entertainment Inc., the global leader in music/media burning and digital download systems, is going “green” by using CD sleeves made from recycled paper rather than plastic jewel cases.

“Being the industry leader carries its responsibilities,” said Helen Seltzer, CEO of Mediaport. “We have always looked for ways to be a contributor to the right solution. We are doing our share to save the environment, it’s the right decision, it’s the sensible decision and going 'green' is our decision.”

Mediaport sells media downloading software systems (MediaATMs®) that make it possible for customers to select from over one million songs. Mediaport also provides their partners with ‘green’ or recycled paper sleeves to cover their CDs and encourages customers to be even greener by taking their music digitally, instead of burning selections to a CD. Due to these efforts, digital sales have increased to 23 percent since last year.

The new sleeves conserve resources and generate less pollution during manufacturing and can be used over and over.

“We hope that more companies will join us and take a look at the little things they can do to help the environment,” Seltzer said.

Mediaport Entertainment will continue saving the planet one song at a time.

Assists Independent Music Retailers
03 November 2008

Mediaport Entertainment Inc., a global leader in music/media burning and digital download systems, is benefiting independent music retailers internationally as media sales are decreasing; through their media system which allows customers to digitally download music to a memory stick or mobile phone with a library of over one million songs.

More than 2,700 independent and small-chain record stores have closed across the country since 2003, according to the research group Almighty Institute of Music Retail, due to changes in technology and lack of demand.

Mediaport offers a media system, also known as a MediaATM®, which is simple-to-use and allows customers to download songs to a listening device or burn a CD with the touch of a finger. Compatible devices range from memory sticks to mobile phones. Customers are able to choose from over one million songs from the major recording labels, including the newest releases, which are updated on a weekly basis.

“We've had it for two weeks and it has made up almost 10 percent of sales,” said one independent music retailer, Jim Risser. “We still have the physical product but this allows us to take care of the customer instantly.” Risser is the owner of Finest Music in Fort Collins and Greeley Colorado.

Following a seven-year decline, CD sales dropped more than 20 percent from 2006 to 2007, according to figures released by Nielsen SoundScan?. Digital downloads increased more than 38 percent. Fans bought 582 million digital singles in 2006, which is a sixty-five percent increase from 2005.

“We are proud to offer a digital media solution to music retailers,” said President of Mediaport Jon Butler. “Our solution gives an extended offering to music stores existing customers by increasing their back catalog. Customers are guaranteed to find the music they are looking for, they can select they way they want it and have it delivered in a way that best suits their life.”
